“America, Don’t Make Britain’s Mistake”: My Warning from Across the Atlantic

I’m standing in the United States with members of Congress, having conversations that 650 MPs in Britain refuse to have. In my country, no one in Parliament will openly address the issues we’re facing - even after terrorist attacks, even after the erosion of free speech, even after I was imprisoned.

But here in America, leaders are at least willing to talk. My message to Americans is simple: you don’t have to go down the same path as Britain, Germany, or France. You can prevent it. You can act early. I wish someone had warned us 30 years ago, now I’m here to give that warning to you.
