Donald Trump confronts South African president with white genocide claims
US President Donald Trump confronted his South African counterpart with claims of white genocide during their Oval Office meeting earlier this week. Genocide is a crime that falls under the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). However, no claims of genocide against Afrikaners in South Africa have been submitted to the ICJ to date.
Independent media fact-checkers have reported there is no evidence available to support Trump's accusation of a white genocide occurring in South Africa. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa had travelled to the US to reset relations between the two countries. He reiterated there is "no genocide" in South Africa and said the visit was a "great success" overall.
