This song appears on the 1980 Motown Records release entitled "Heroes." Lionel Richie was told this was one of the songs that would ruin his career. People wanted more dance music like, "Brick House." Even though "Jesus Is Love" was a gospel song, it ended up reaching as high as #34 on the U.S. R&B Charts. It was a staple in many church congregations throughout the 80s and 90s.
