A 4-bit adder circuit is built using individual transitions to work as a calculator that can and up to 31. Two 4-bit inputs can be added and a 5-bit output is displayed using 5 LEDs.

First, the video discusses the difference between the base 10 number system and the base 2 number system which is binary. Positional notation determines the value of each digit. The numbers can be added based on their position as well.

A calculator is built using 4 full adders. Each full adder is built using individual transistors. The full adders are made with XOR gates, AND gates, and OR gates. Once the calculator is built it is tested. It works properly and several additions are made to verify its function.
