It is a shocking scandal that far too few people in Germany know about: In the United Kingdom, girls were victims of organized sexual abuse for decades. The whole phenomenon is known under the term "grooming“. Not all, but a significant number of the perpetrators were Pakistani immigrants who came to England, settled down, and formed sexual abuse rings over the years. The crimes committed against these girls were, in some cases, unimaginably cruel – including gang rape, mutilation, and forced prostitution.

But how does grooming work? Who are the perpetrators? And why were they allowed to continue for decades? NIUS reporter Jan A.
