UK towns 'not prepared' for migrant boats as immigration crisis spirals amid mass protests

UK towns have sounded the alarm that they are ill-equipped to handle the arrival of several migrants following mass anti-immigration protests.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight police and crime commissioner Donna Jones said places such as Dover and Portsmouth are “not set up” for migrant arrivals.

“We have hundreds of miles of coastline across southern England, and if Dover is no longer the destination of choice, and instead there is going to be a spread across southern England, this is a significant issue for the Government,” Jones said.

Jones’ remarks follow huge protests in Portsmouth following the arrival of roughly 140 migrants.

The protest eventually turned ugly as police in riot shields clashed with demonstrators attempting to stop the transportation of migrants.
