Why do some parents reject vaccines, despite evidence that they've helped generations of children stay healthy? When sociologist Jennifer Reich started interviewing parents about this growing trend, she realized it wasn't as simple as being ignorant or anti-science. In this fascinating talk, she explains why this movement is the symptom of a much bigger problem -- our broken beliefs about parenting & health. Jennifer Reich is Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado Denver. Her research examines how individuals and families weigh information and strategize their interactions with the state and service providers, particularly as they relate to healthcare and welfare. Over the last decade, she has examined how parents come to reject vaccines for their children, in dialog with physicians, complementary healthcare providers, activists, and researchers. She wrote Calling the Shots: Why Parents Reject Vaccines. She & her husband have three children. Diabetic patients especially those with uncontrolled uh sugars are at an increased risk of various infections both because of their uncontrolled diabetes and also because of an immuno compromised state certain vaccines are recommended in diabetic patients and especially before the winter months it's important to uh give vaccines to the elderly population with diabetes which includes influenza vaccine uh pneumococcal vaccine a pneumococcal vaccine is uh given once every 5 years and uh a flu vaccine is given uh every year apart from this hepatitis B vaccine is also recommended in diabetic patients and uh in those uh patients with diabetes who haven't been vaccinated before then it is recommended that they take hepatitis B vaccines shingles vaccine is another vaccine which is very important especially in the elderly age group because we see many patients with uh uh severe complications of shingles and secondary infection sometimes affecting their uh face facial nerve and also uh leading to uh severe complications so all of these infections can be prevented by simple vaccinations and uh uh diabetic patients should be aware of these vaccines and take them in a timely manner.

Around 11 percent of the global population have received at least one jab of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Countries with rapid rollouts are preparing to get back to pre-pandemic life... with Israel set to lift indoor mask mandates.

It's been six months since the first coronavirus vaccine shot was administered in the UK.
And as the biggest vaccine campaign in history rolls on, more than two billion doses have now been given worldwide.
About 11 percent of the global population have gotten at least one.
Data from the World Health Organization also shows that the number of daily new cases worldwide has been falling... since the peak of almost 900-thousand in mid-April.
With the vaccination rate increasing worldwide, countries are moving to ease their restrictions.
Israel, which has been a vaccination leader, plans to lift mask mandates for people indoors starting next week, which would end the country's only major remaining virus restriction.
Students at school, however, will still have to wear masks in class... as children under 16 have yet to be vaccinated.
Israel lifted outdoor mask requirements in April, and it's also removed limits on gatherings, and is allowing businesses to operate without restrictions.
On Sunday, the country reported just four new infections,... all of which were from overseas.
The U.S. is taking similar steps.
Half of the U.S. population has now received at least one dose of a vaccine and about 42 percent have been fully vaccinated.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that those who are fully vaccinated do not need to wear masks outdoors.
Vaccine distribution, however, have been lopsided in different parts of the world.
Countries and regions with higher incomes are getting vaccinated 20 to 30 times faster than those with lower incomes.
Africa, for example, has inoculated only 31 million people... out of its population of 1-point-3 billion.
The World Health Organization has said that at least 70 percent of the world's population would have to be inoculated to end the pandemic.
But if there are countries that don't have access to vaccines, then that goal will remain far away.
