What Percentage of the Population Needs to Get the COVID-19 Vaccine for Herd Immunity?

Health care workers across the U.S. were the first in the nation to receive the COVID-19 vaccine today.

“Extra’s” Billy Bush sat down with Dr. Armand Dorian to talk about the big news and learn more about how the vaccine works.

The rollout will likely take months, and Billy asked what percentage of the population needs to receive the vaccine in order to beat this disease. Dr. Dorian answered, “70 percent to start getting what is called herd immunity.”
