Small boats 'set to be used by people smugglers' in France have been intercepted by police as they passed through the UK.
Officers seized 25 inflatable dinghies on an air shipment being moved from Turkey to the Netherlands.
The seizure at East Midlands Airport is the first time the boats have been detected in air cargo.

Two Iranian men have been charged with terror offences over an alleged plot to target the UK’s Jewish community in the city of Manchester ahead of Yom Kippur, counter-terrorism police have said.
Rahman Salehi, 35, of Salford and Salam Ahmadyan, 36, from Liverpool, who are thought to have arrived in the UK by small boat, are accused of preparing to commit an act of terrorism or assisting another to commit an act of terrorism on or before 20 September.
The pair who were arrested in the city are accused of communicating with others, to acquire components to assemble a homemade explosive device. It’s alleged they had obtained instructions on manufacturing bombs, had been using the internet to identify potential targets and conducted reconnaissance of potential locations for attack.
The British Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the news two Iranian men have been charged over an alleged plot would be "deeply distressing" to the Jewish community.
She said: "The fact both suspects arrived by small boat several years ago is a reminder of the importance of our relentless work to tackle illegal migration into this country. While numbers are down, I know there is more we must do”

The US has withdrawn all its bombers aircraft stationed at RAF Fairford in the UK following an alleged terror plot to target the facility. Washington has ben using the airfield to launch strikes on Iran, including deploying the B-1 strategic bomber.
In a statement the Pentagon said: “We can acknowledge now that all US bombers that were deployed to RAF Fairford have redeployed to their home stations in the United States.”
The withdrawal of a dozen B-1 strategic aircraft comes after British counter-terrorism police arrested six suspects in connection with a planned attack on the base that US and British officials said was disrupted last Sunday.
Police initially detained five British men near RAF Fairford after three suspicious vans were reported nearby. The suspects were released on police bail while remaining under investigation. Ccounterterrorism officers then arrested a 25-year-old dual British-Iranian citizen on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts linked to the incident. He has also been released on bail while inquiries continue.
The US President Donald Trump has said a planned attack was intended to do “big damage” and claimed that suspects were under investigation by both US and British authorities. Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that his country handed Britain intelligence about the suspected terror plot.
The British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said there were "strong indications" pointing to Iranian involvement in the incident near the airbase, although he stressed that the police investigation remained ongoing. Iran has denied any connection to an alleged terror operation.

Thousands of illegal registration plates on cars and other vehicles have been detected by a new camera system currently being tested on motorways in south-east England, BBC Panorama has revealed.
These 'ghost plates' have been adapted to avoid their details being identified by automatic number plate recognition systems, which are used to enforce speed limits and low emission zones as well as to track criminals.
Illegal plates are putting the public at risk and are far too easy to get hold of, according to one former government advisor.

Reform UK says it would end the reopened UK Resettlement Scheme and deport people admitted through it if elected. Nigel Farage also plans a review of Britain’s Afghan resettlement programmes.

Power cuts are affecting more than 9,000 homes in Cornwall and Devon as Storm Austen hits parts of the UK.
A red warning, the most serious level of alert issued by the Met Office, is in place for Guernsey and Jersey. Amber warnings have been given to Cornwall and parts of Devon for strong winds.
A further yellow weather warning for wind also begins for millions across the South East and North West of England, the East Midlands and Wales.

Britain is facing growing concern over Russian hybrid warfare, as defence and intelligence officials warn that Moscow could seek to pressure the United Kingdom without launching a conventional military attack. Potential targets include subsea data cables, energy pipelines, electricity infrastructure, logistics networks and cyber systems that underpin daily life and the economy. Royal Navy chief Gen. Sir Gwyn Jenkins has said Russia’s capable submarine force and deep-sea research programme present a “real concern” for an island nation heavily dependent on maritime trade, energy and communications. GCHQ has also said Russian activity spans “from the seabed to cyberspace.” UK agencies are increasing surveillance, cyber resilience and protection of critical national infrastructure.

The UK has "glaring gaps" in its ability to defend the Arctic region, leaving it vulnerable to potential Russian attacks, a report by MPs has warned.
The Commons Defence Committee said a shortage of Royal Navy warships and submarines was leaving the country's critical infrastructure in the High North, including undersea cables and energy supplies, exposed.
In the event of a conflict, the report added that Russia could threaten the UK's population, civilian and military infrastructure and vital supply routes across the Atlantic from the US.
The Ministry of Defence said it is "clear-eyed about the threat Russia posed" and is investing heavily to protect Britain's undersea cables.
