Really great bbq starts with the seasonings you put on it. These combinations of spices build flavor on the outside as it cooks. Think of that wonderful bark on a properly smoked pork butt or slab or ribs…that all comes from the rub.
Now there’s plenty of great BBQ Rubs on the market, and all of them start with a basic recipe. It’s safe to bet that almost everyone has the making of a bbq rub in your spice cabinet at home.
I brought in my friends Shane and Lawson Linn from Townsend Spice & Supply - https://townsendspice.com/ to share with us a basic BBQ Rub recipe that everyone can use as a jumping off point for making good BBQ.
- ½ Cup Paprika
- ½ Cup Salt
- ½ Cup Sugar
- ½ Cup Granulated Garlic
- ¼ Cup Granulated Onion
- ¼ Cup Chili
- ¼ Cup Cumin
- 2 Tablespoons Black Pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Dry Mustard
- 1 Tablespoon Cayenne Pepper
They use 10 common ingredients: Salt, Sugar, Pepper, Garlic, Onion, Chili Powder, Paprika, Cumin, Cayenne, and Mustard to form a BBQ Rub.
This combination of spices is the foundation for producing bbq. You could analyze every rub on the market and just about all of them will contain most if not all of these seasonings. What makes each one different is the ratios or amounts of each ingredient used. With a proper foundation you can create your own rub. Add your favorite seasonings or change up the ratios to your taste and you’ll have your very own signature BBQ Rub.

Today's video is to be specifically on how to create your own speed combo.
Yoyoing 'Speed Combos' or 'Rail Combos' are a very cool and impressive style of trick that all Yoyoers should have in their repertoire. In this video, I take the concept from 'How to make yoyo tricks' and apply it specifically to building a speed combo. In the video, I outline a 4 step process into building your very first speed combo and beefing up your trick set as a Yoyo player.
1) Identify whose speed combos you want to emulate and learn their combos. You can learn this via online trick tutorials or by slowing down their freestyle videos.
2) Cherry-pick elements from those speed combos that you like, and discard the rest.
3) Add 1 or 2 of your own unique elements to the combo to give it a bit of an original touch.
4) Combine all the elements into a nice flowy sequence. And viola, you should have your own speed combo.
Note, the art of speed combos goes beyond learning the mechanics of a trick, you also need to do it fast. So be sure to ensure practice your speed combo until it's stage-ready.

Here is what you'll need!
2 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR OWN PERFUME
DIY PERFUME SPRAY
MATERIALS
Dark, glass bottle/container for storing*
2 tablespoons carrier oil of choice (coconut, olive, jojoba, almond)
¼ cup 100 proof vodka
6-8 drops base note essential oil of choice (~20% total number of drops)
15-20 drops middle note essential oil of choice (~50% total number of drops)
12-15 drops top note essential oil of choice (~30% total number of drops)
Funnel for transferring liquid to container
2 tablespoons distilled water
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a small bowl, add in carrier oil of choice and vodka.
2. Add essential oils in the following order: base note, middle note, and top note. Stir to combine thoroughly.**
3. Transfer to glass container using funnel.
4. Store in a cool, dark place for at least 48 hours to 2 weeks to allow fragrance to settle.
5. If you like the scent you made and you’re ready to use it, add distilled water to the container using funnel.
6. Shake vigorously for 1-2 minutes.
7. Your perfume is ready to use! (Be sure to test a small patch of skin first to see if it causes irritation).
8. Use a coffee filter and small funnel if transferring to a pretty perfume bottle (optional).
9. Enjoy your personal fragrance!
Note:
*We used 4-ounce amber glass spray bottles; If using 2-ounce bottles, simply use ½ the recipe.
**You may need to do some research on which essential oils pair well together but feel free to get creative and come up with your own combination. Either way, it is recommended you test out your scent in a separate bowl to see if you like the final aroma once all notes are combined. Water for boiling
1 large glass bowl
2 tablespoons beeswax
2 tablespoon coconut oil
6-8 drops base note essential oil of choice (~20% total number of drops)

12-15 drops top note essential oil of choice (~30% total number of drops)
Small container(s) with secure lid(s)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Pour water into a pot and bring to boil.
2. Place glass bowl on top of pot for double boiling. Ensure it is secure.
3. Pour beeswax into bowl and stir until fully melted.
4. Add in coconut oil and stir until melted.
5. Remove glass bowl and set aside.
6. Quickly add in essential oils in the following order: base note, middle note, top note. Stir to combine thoroughly.*
7. Pour liquid into container(s) and let cool for 1 hour, or until it has fully solidified.
8. Your fragrance balm is ready to use! (Be sure to test a small patch of skin first to see if it causes irritation).
9. Enjoy your personal scent!
