Apostles: Special Witnesses of Jesus Christ | Now You Know
Apostles: Special Witnesses of Jesus Christ | Now You Know 121gamers 2 Views • 2 years ago

Apostles are witnesses of Jesus Christ and testify to all the world of His divine mission. Christ himself ordained 12 apostles during his earthly ministry. Today, 12 living apostles continue the same charge to teach and testify of Him.

Apostles serve as special witnesses of Jesus Christ, with a primary purpose to teach and testify of His divine role and mission. Jesus Christ chose and ordained twelve apostles during His earthly ministry to help share His message of truth and salvation with all people. Simon Peter was the first apostle Jesus called, and the leader of the twelve. Then there was Andrew, his brother, James and John, also brothers, then Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew the publican, another apostle named James, Judas Thaddaeus, Simon Zelotes, a Canaanite, and last, Judas Iscariot, the traitor.

After Christ’s death and resurrection, the apostles continued to travel and teach, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with as many people as they could. They also endured persecution and were killed because of their teachings. Over time the foundation of the Church and the priesthood authority that Christ established was lost.

The divine return of The Church of Jesus Christ began in the early 1800s. Just as in Christ’s ancient church, the Restored Church was subsequently organized with twelve apostles, men who have the same authority and charge from Jesus Christ to “teach all nations,” and continue to take His gospel to all the world.

The Mormon church in Canada: Where did more than $1 billion go? - The Fifth Estate 121gamers 2 Views • 2 years ago

Our investigation reveals more than $1 billion raised by the Mormon church in Canada has been funnelled to the U.S. rather than going to charitable works in this country. We hear from former members in Canada and elsewhere who say concerns about how money is spent have led them to leave the church.

Luke 10 | Parables of Jesus: Parable of the Good Samaritan | The Bible
Luke 10 | Parables of Jesus: Parable of the Good Samaritan | The Bible 121gamers 2 Views • 2 years ago

Jesus gives the parable of the good Samaritan.

Luke 10:25–37

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

John 20 | He Is Risen | The Bible
John 20 | He Is Risen | The Bible 121gamers 2 Views • 2 years ago

The risen Christ appears to Mary Magdalene in the garden.

John 20: 11–17

11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Matthew 11 | Jesus Acclaims John the Baptist; Come unto Me | The Bible
Matthew 11 | Jesus Acclaims John the Baptist; Come unto Me | The Bible 121gamers 2 Views • 2 years ago

Jesus acclaims John as more than a prophet. The cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum are rebuked for unbelief. The Son reveals the Father. The yoke of Christ is easy, and His burden is light.

Matthew 11:1–30

1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Latter-day Saint Temples
Latter-day Saint Temples 121gamers 2 Views • 2 years ago

If you have ever had questions about what goes on inside temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, click here to learn more: https://bit.ly/3AsHYNL

Temples are the House of the Lord. They’re holy places where Latter-day Saints make sacred promises to God. Examples include promises to keep His commandments, and the promises husbands and wives make to each other and to God during a temple wedding, known as a sealing. There are more than 160 temples in operation around the world, from Sacramento, California, to Washington, D.C., to Manila, Philippines.

TRANSCRIPT:

If you’ve ever seen a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you probably noticed it does not look like other buildings. That’s on purpose. So, what makes it different? Well, let’s go back to biblical times.

From the very beginning, God’s people have built temples. Moses had his tabernacle, a sort of traveling temple. Then Solomon built a temple—one of his greatest achievements. During His life, Jesus Christ spent a lot of time in the temple at Jerusalem, helping, healing and teaching. And basically, that’s still what happens in temples today. Here, let me show you.

A temple is different from other church buildings. Inside the different rooms, people make promises with God. Promises to keep His commandments. Promises to be good husbands and wives. Promises to share what we have to help take care of each other. Because Latter-day Saints believe families are eternal, temple marriages are performed to last forever, so families can always be together, and that includes our ancestors too!

So, who can go inside a temple? Well, first, everyone. When a new temple is built there’s an open house for the public. Afterwards, it is only open to members of the Church who have prepared themselves to make sacred promises with God.

The truth is, temples aren't special because they look pretty from the outside. Instead, it’s about what happens in the hearts of the people inside. Because that’s where God does his most important work.

Whether your children are grown or still growing, opportunities to teach them truth will never run out. That fact is brought to life in this sweet and simple story of a dad doing his best to set an example of service, love, and prayer for his young boys. It is a perfect reminder that true success comes to parents who don’t let distractions—no matter how worthwhile—get in the way of living basic gospel principles and teaching their children to do the same.

The Hope of God's Light 121gamers 2 Views • 2 years ago

http://www.mormonchannel.org/video/mormon-messages - Many of us have wondered if God knows us or if He even exists. Todd was someone who made fun of people who thought God was real, and he wasn’t surprised when he didn’t get an immediate answer to a prayer. But could God be giving us small but obvious answers? And how patient do we need to be to get those answers?

You can find hope in God & Jesus Christ and know for a surety that they exist and love you.
