One person has died, with several injured, after severe turbulence on a London to Singapore flight.

Authorities at Bangkok airport said the victim was a 73-year-old British man who "likely" died from a heart attack.

Seven people are seriously injured - the wife of the British man who died has gone to hospital.

Anyone not wearing a seat belt was “launched into the ceiling”, one passenger said.

Singapore Airlines said the flight experienced "sudden extreme turbulence" over Myanmar.

India's central bank has moved around a 100 tonnes, or 1 lakh kilograms of gold from the United Kingdom back to its vaults in India, and intends to move more in coming months.

RBI faced severe criticism back in 1991 when it was forced to pledge part of its gold reserves as the country was undergoing a foreign exchange crisis. This is the first time since 1991 that India has moved such a heavy scale of gold.

The cause of Thomas Kingston’s death has been revealed at an inquest opening at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court.

The husband of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent’s daughter, Lady Gabriella Kingston, died from a “traumatic head wound” and a gun was found near Mr Kingston’s body in an outbuilding at his parents' home in the Cotswolds.

The court heard that the 45-year-old died on February 25th.

The skull of a colossal sea monster has been extracted from the cliffs of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, UK.

It belongs to a pliosaur, a ferocious marine reptile that terrorised the oceans about 150 million years ago.

The 2m-long fossil is one of the most complete specimens of its type ever discovered and is giving new insights into this ancient predator.

The skull will be featured in a special David Attenborough programme on BBC One on New Year's Day.

The Labour Party has extended its lead over the Conservatives, according to the first exclusive YouGov poll of the campaign for Sky News.

One week into the race for Number 10, Labour is 27 points ahead of the Tories.

The Great Britain poll - conducted on Monday and Tuesday this week - puts Labour on 47%, the Tories on 20%, Reform on 12%, the Liberal Democrats on 9% and Greens on 7%.

The poll suggests the Conservatives have failed to get a bounce from Rishi Sunak's surprise election announcement and are still struggling to win back its coalition of 2019 voters.

Three young friends, including a couple, were filmed in a heartbreaking final embrace before they were swept away by flash floods in northern Italy.

Patrizia Cormos, 20, her friend Bianca Doros, 23, and her boyfriend Cristian Molnar, 25, had decided to take a stroll along the Natisone River near Udine in the northern Friuli region when the river surged to dangerous levels after days of torrential rain.

The two women and man, all aged in their 20s, were last seen alive on Friday standing thigh deep in the swirling river water on a tiny island they walked to in the middle of the river.

Authorities in the UK covered up the infected-blood scandal, knowingly exposing victims to unacceptable risks, a report has said.

The five-year investigation accused doctors, the government, and the NHS of letting patients catch HIV and hepatitis.

More than 30,000 people were infected, from 1970 to 1991, by contaminated blood products and transfusions, and about 3,000 have died.

Sir Brian Langstaff, who chaired the inquiry, said the scale of the scandal was "horrifying" and the authorities had been too slow to respond to the risks.
