The Gnostic gospels of the 2nd to 4th century AD have told us a lot about the scene of evolving ideas during the early Christian period.

The Gnostics emerged as a group that saw the world very differently from the view of orthodox Christianity, and the sheer complexity of the doctrine has kept scholars and theologians engaged to this day.

From the point of view of someone reading these texts now, I'd describe them as a really fascinating sequel to the Bible, complete with its own host of deities, cosmology, alternative back stories to biblical incidents, unheard of cryptic teachings by Jesus, and mystical, heavily metaphorical theology.

And what about the purpose of these writings? Are they secret codes awaiting to be deciphered, or just a relic of a past doctrine that once flourished?

In this video we take a look at some of the quite obscure teachings from five different Gnostic gospels.
Enjoy!

One of my favorite breakfast foods! If you’ve never made pancake syrup from scratch then....you might want to skip it because seriously..once you taste homemade all the other store-bought kinds will because “just ok”. Although I have found one store-bought kind that tastes close to homemade (Log Cabin baby!)

This homemade pancake syrup is so buttery, smooth, rich and delicious! I’m not really a fan of having a lot of syrup on my waffles or pancakes but with this homemade syrup, I just want to drink it up!

It’s that good! Perfectly sweet and balanced out with the salt and butter. This and my buttermilk syrup recipe (recipe coming soon) is the only homemade syrup my boys will eat.

Try it out next time you make a batch of pancakes….or waffles…or french toast! Heck, this stuff is even good on ice cream!

Lyrics:
Searched across the endless skies
Whoever thought I’d find someone like you
And even the test of time
No nothing could divide
What’s meant for you and I
Oh we’ve been down a long, long road now look at where we are
We were chasing after hopes and dreams and we’re still under the stars
And all this time I’ve always wondered if it would feel the same
As it did when we were young and not afraid
‘Cause I’ve waited
I’ve been waiting forever
Right here for this moment
Between you and I
Everything is happening
And it’s just what I imagined
I imagined it would feel like
Paradise
I sailed across the endless sea
Just so I could be
Right here next to you
Right here next to you
Right here next to you
‘Cause when your heart’s close to mine
I know god’s plan is divine
And it’s meant
For you and I
And I know
We’ve been down a long, long road now we’re looking where we are
We were chasing after hopes and dreams and we’re still under the stars
And all this time I’ve always wondered if it would feel the same
As it did when we were young and not afraid
‘Cause I waited
I’ve been waiting forever
Right here for this moment
Between you and I
Everything is happening
And it’s just what I imagined
I imagined it would feel like
Paradise
You know I’d give anything to be your only one
Only one
Just look at us we’re right here where we belong
And it was written
‘Cause the stars said
I was yours and
You would be mine all along
I don’t mind waiting
I’ve been waiting forever
Right here for this moment
Between you and I
Everything is happening
And it’s just what I imagined
I imagined it would feel like
‘Cause I waited
I’ve been waiting forever
Right here for this moment
Between you and I
Everything is happening
And it’s just what I imagined
I imagined it would feel like
Paradise
Paradise
Paradise
