Flights across the UK have been disrupted by a "technical issue" with air traffic control.

Nats, which runs air traffic control, said it had "nothing to do" with a software defect that led to the cancellation of 2,000 flights earlier this month.

The issue at Nats' Prestwick centre in Ayrshire is "now fixed", with the system running "at full capacity".

Around 200 flights were cancelled or did not fly today, analytics firm Cirium said.

Londoners are able to hail the UK's first robotaxis - as Uber today becomes the first company to launch a self-driving minicab.

Initially, it only has 15 autonomous vehicles with a licence to operate in the city, and each one must have a human safety driver behind the wheel ready to take control if anything goes wrong.

Uber said it surveyed London-based customers via the app and more than 100,000 said they would choose a self-driving taxi if one was available, despite incidents of driverless rides malfunctioning in US cities where they already operate.

The UK government has launched a scathing attack on Israel’s actions in the West Bank and Gaza. The Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said ‘terrorists’ were carrying out ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, which is illegally occupied by Israel, and said they were doing so with the backing of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

Mr Miliband announced sanctions on trade with settlements and declared that UK policy was now officially that Israel’s occupation of the West Bank was unlawful. The UK announcements are the most direct condemnation of Israeli policy since it was founded as a state, and follows a summer of violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinian communities in the occupied territories.

The UK joins 12 other countries that have announced sanctions against goods from the settlements, including France and Canada. It comes as Israel is implementing another major expansion of settlements, with the construction of E1, a new development of 1,200 homes that will cut off Palestinians in the West Bank from East Jerusalem, which they claim as the future capital of a Palestinian state.

The Israeli government reacted furiously to the British announcement, condemning the new Labour administration of Andy Burnham, and announcing the closure of the UK consulate in Jerusalem. The Israeli foreign minister Gideon Saar said the UK government was “systematically working against the state of Israel” and accused Mr Miliband of telling “outrageous lies”.

Reform UK has been reported to the police over allegations it breached political donation rules by having polling paid for by an overseas company.

Nigel Farage’s party took funding from a US firm for three polls it commissioned earlier this year costing £32,500, Channel 4 News reported.

The purported donors were in fact undercover reporters from investigative group Verbatim posing as an American financier and his UK-based son.

The Liberal Democrats have written to the Metropolitan Police and Electoral Commission.

Labour also intends to report the matter to the police, it is understood, and the Greens have called for a probe. The Met said it is assessing the reports.

Reform, which is holding its party conference in Birmingham, denies any wrongdoing.

The First Ministers of the UK’s devolved nations will sign a landmark agreement on Monday aimed at putting pressure on Downing Street to hold referendums on independence.

SNP leader John Swinney, Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth and Sinn Féin vice president Michelle O’Neill will meet in Cardiff on Monday, where they are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding pushing for referendums in their respective countries.

The trio will meet in their capacity as party leaders, rather than as officials in their respective governments.

Successive UK governments have been consistently against the holding of referendums on separation since the 2014 vote in Scotland and hopes earlier this week of a softening position were dashed by Downing Street.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham told the Commons another vote in Scotland could be held if there was a “clear consensus” north of the border for it, but a letter sent to Swinney later clarified a referendum remained “off limits”.

A Sinn Féin source told the Press Association the Cardiff summit will be about “where the parties can work together to make a difference to people’s lives; and how each of our nations has the right to shape its own future through democratic means, guided by the will of its people”.

The source added: “In Ireland, the constitutional future belongs to the people of this island.

“The Good Friday Agreement gives us the democratic means to decide it, and now is the time to prepare seriously for that choice.

“Irish unity is not a distant aspiration.

“The work of building the new Ireland must begin now.”

The meeting is due to take place in Cardiff on Monday.

Speaking on the BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg, Welsh First Minister ap Iorweth said: “We’re talking about how we can work together, let’s talk about what we have in common and what we don’t.”

David Walliams' publisher has confirmed it is dropping the author's back catalogue.

HarperCollins had already said it wouldn't release any new titles because of allegations of inappropriate behaviour, which Walliams denies.

But now the publisher has confirmed the children's author's existing books will also slowly disappear from bookshops.

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan are facing extradition from the US to the UK after authorities announced 38 new charges against them, including rape and sex trafficking.

The total number of charges against the brothers is now 59, police said.

Andrew, 39, and Tristan, 37 - who came to global fame via social media - have previously denied any wrongdoing.

The dual British-US citizens were taken into custody and appeared before a federal court in July as prosecutors launched legal proceedings to have them sent to the UK.
