Mormon Church History: The Organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith organized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) on April 6, 1830.
The Church follows the same organization as the church in the time of Jesus Christ, with prophets and apostles, and Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone. The First Presidency presides over the church and receives revelation for the entire church.
The current prophet, Thomas S. Monson, serves as the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and receives revelation from God for His Church, and for all men on earth.
