Winners of the book prize from the Ridenhour Prize for Courageous Truth-telling discuss the problem of truth in the age of alt-facts. Now in their 18th year, the annual Ridenhour Prizes recognize those who persevere in acts of truth-telling that protect the public interest, promote social justice, or illuminate a more just vision of society. Awarded at a luncheon at the National Press Club, these prizes memorialize the spirit of fearless truth-telling that New Orleanian Ron Ridenhour reflected throughout his extraordinary life and career as the whistleblower who uncovered the My Lai massacre and a George Polk Award-winning investigative reporter. Panelists include Eliza Griswold, Lauren Markham, and Heather Ann Thompson. Moderated by founder of the Prizes, Randy Fertel.

Led by Roger Berkowitz, Founder and Director of the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College, the essay will be introduced by Martin Jay, Sidney Hellman Ehrman Professor Emeritus of History at the University of California, Berkeley.
