The Beach Boys - Kokomo (LYRICS)
Aruba, Jamaica, oh I want to take ya
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go, Jamaica
Off the Florida Keys, there's a place called Kokomo
That's where you want to go to get away from it all
Bodies in the sand, tropical drink melting in your hand
We'll be falling in love to the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo
Aruba, Jamaica, oh I want to take you to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go
oh I want to take you down to
Kokomo, we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow
That's where we want to go, way down in Kokomo
Martinique, that Montserrat mystique
We'll put out to sea and we'll perfect our chemistry
And by and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity
Afternoon…

The Beach Boys performing "Help Me, Rhonda", released originally in 1965.
"Help Me, Rhonda" is the first Beach Boys single featuring guitarist Al Jardine on lead vocals. Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, the song tells the story of a heartbroken man seeking solace in Rhonda after the girl he hoped to marry chooses someone else.
Despite its somber lyrics, "Help Me, Rhonda" maintains an upbeat tempo. Interestingly, there is no real Rhonda connected to the song, although many women named Rhonda have received comments related to it throughout their lives.
The song was produced by Brian Wilson, who initially envisioned himself singing lead but ultimately decided Jardine was the right choice. This decision showcased the band's versatility and willingness to experiment with different vocal arrangements.
In 1975, Johnny Rivers covered the track, reaching #22 in the US with Brian Wilson providing backup vocals. This cover version helped introduce "Help Me, Rhonda" to a new generation of listeners, further solidifying its status as a classic hit.
The Beach Boys' enduring popularity and their ability to create timeless, memorable tunes have made them one of the most iconic bands in music history. Their music continues to resonate with fans of all ages, making them a beloved figure in the world of classic hits.
