Andrei Kelin told Trevor Phillips the military action being taken against Tehran is "simply unfair" and Russia is "supportive" of Iran.

Reports suggest Russia has been sharing military intelligence with the Iranian regime.

US President Donald Trump has told the UK he does not need its aircraft carriers and accused Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer of seeking to "join wars after we've already won", as the US and Israel continue to launch strikes on Iran.

In a social media post, Trump said the UK was "giving serious thought" to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East, before saying the US does not "need them". Downing Street has not responded.

One of the UK's two aircraft carriers has been placed on advanced readiness, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

Trump's comments come after US bomber jets were seen landing in the UK as the US started using British bases for "specific defensive operations".

More than 100 soldiers from the Royal Bermuda Regiment have been in the UK, training under the watchful eyes of The Royal Lancers – one of the British Army's armoured cavalry units.

Today, the Prime minister says he “felt sick” as he watched the body cam footage of a student who was handcuffed as he lay dying.

The 18-year-old Southampton student Henry Nowak was handcuffed after Vickrum Digwa, 23, lied to police at the scene of the 2025 stabbing, claiming he had been the victim of a racist attack. Shabana Mahmood described the murder as an "an act of pure evil” and described bodycam footage of officers handcuffing Nowak as "disturbing and tragic".

The family of a student murdered by a weapons-obsessed man have said the way their son was treated by police as he died was "inhumane and degrading".

Henry Nowak, 18, was stabbed to death in Southampton by Vickrum Digwa who used a blade he carried as part of his Sikh faith.

When officers arrived Digwa lied and told them Henry racially abused him leading police to handcuff the teenager as he was fatally injured.

Today as Digwa was jailed for life for murder, with a minimum of 21 years, Henry's family said he'd lost conciousness before anyone believed him.

A judge told Digwa his callous crime had shamed his family and his faith, and had stirred up racial tension.

Also on the programme:
-Starmer faces more questioning after the release of more documents relating to the appointment of disgraced peer Lord Mandelson as US ambassador.
-The US war against Iran has taken another twist with Tehran saying there won't be any further peace talks until Israel stops its military operations in Lebanon and Gaza.
-A member of the British Army has died in a training accident in Northern Iraq, the Ministry of Defence has announced.

Donald Trump’s telephone call Monday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became quite heated as the US president pressed the Israeli leader to scale back plans for military operations in Lebanon, according to two people familiar with the conversation.

Trump at points used expletives to convey his disapproval of the planned offensive, which threatened to upend his efforts to broker a preliminary agreement with Iran.

The White House didn’t comment on the acrimonious tone of the call, which was reported by Axios.

US President Donald Trump has said next week's state visit from King Charles and Queen Camilla could "absolutely" help improve relations with the UK.

When asked in a phone interview with the BBC whether the visit could help repair the relationship, Trump said: "Absolutely. He's fantastic. He's a fantastic man. Absolutely the answer is yes."

"I know him well, I've known him for years," he said.

The president also spoke about his relationship with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who he said could only "recover" if he changed course on immigration.

The deployment, which will also include personnel from Germany, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and the UK, comes as US President Donald Trump continues to press his claim to the Arctic island, which is a semi-autonomous part of Denmark.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the initial contingent would be reinforced soon with "land, air, and sea assets".

Senior diplomat Olivier Poivre d'Arvor saw the mission as sending a strong political signal: "This is a first exercise... we'll show the US that Nato is present."

The White House has said President Trump is considering using the US military to acquire Greenland. It said that doing so was a “national security priority” for his administration and it is considering a range of options to secure that goal.

Donald Trump recently stated that the US "needed" Greenland – a semi-autonomous region of fellow Nato member Denmark – for security reasons. He has repeatedly insisted that it must come under US control.

The latest White House statement came shortly after European leaders rallied behind Denmark, whose Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, has warned that any attack by the US on Greenland would spell the end of Nato. Under the rules of the military alliance allies are expected to go to each other's aid in case of external attacks.

Six European leaders backed Denmark in a joint statement which said: "Greenland belongs to its people, and only Denmark and Greenland can decide on matters concerning their relations." The leaders of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain stressed they were as keen as the US to ensure Arctic security and said it must be achieved by NATO allies acting collectively. They called for "upholding the principles of the UN Charter, including sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders".

The European leaders held their urgent talks about Greenland while meeting in Paris to discuss the future of Ukraine and hopes of a peace agreement there. The UK and France signed a declaration of intent to deploy forces to Ukraine in the event of a peace deal.

The latest suggestions by the US administration that it could acquire Greenland by force come just days after a US military assault on Venezuela, the seizure of its President Nicolas Maduro and a declaration that the country would be run by Washington. Recent national security policy from the Trump administration states its intention to ensure US domination of the “western hemisphere”, including central and south America and the western Arctic.
