A top White House aide to U.S. President Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, sparked controversy on August 3 by accusing India of indirectly financing Russia’s war in Ukraine through its Russian oil imports. Miller noted that India is now nearly tied with China as one of Moscow’s key oil customers and declared it “not acceptable” for India to keep these purchases going. A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia caused Moscow's major airports to be temporarily closed and saw at least 140 flights cancelled, officials said.

More than 230 Ukrainian drones were downed over Russia since Saturday morning - including 27 over the capital - according to the Russian defence ministry.

According to Russia's aviation watchdog, the four major airports serving the capital were disrupted.

All have since resumed normal operations.

Putin’s chief propagandist Vladimir Solovyov has hit back at Donald Trump, threatening the use of ‘devastating’ strikes.

Trump imposed a shorter deadline on Moscow to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine or face biting sanctions.

Earlier the US leader had set a 50-day deadline.

Trump’s remarks came as he met with British PM Keir Starmer in Scotland.

He said he was disappointed in Putin’s continued aggression against Kyiv.

On TV, the dictator’s mouthpiece Solovyov hit back at Trump and other western forces.

Implying the use of a nuclear attack, he said: “The strike will be in accordance with our military doctrine. And the strike will be devastating.”

The leaders of China, Russia and North Korea have appeared in public together for the first time in a show of solidarity at a massive military parade in Beijing.

US President Donald Trump, who did not attend, accused President Xi of conspiring against the US with Russia and North Korea in a post on Truth Social.

"Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America," Trump said.

Kremlin spokesperson Yuri Ushakov rejected any suggestion of a conspiracy against the US, according to Russian state media.

He called Trump's words "ironic" and said Putin, Xi and Kim are "not even thinking about a conspiracy against the United States".
