Some 230 people arrived in the UK on a single small boat on Monday, Sky News understands.

It is the largest number of people to have successfully crossed the Channel to the UK on a single boat ever recorded.

The previous record number of people to have made the crossing on a single boat was 165 just last month.

The number of people deported from the US to the UK has doubled since Trump took office for the second time last year, figures obtained by The Telegraph have revealed.

Data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) show that 212 people were deported to the UK from the US between Trump’s inauguration on Jan 20 and Oct 15, the most recent date for which figures were available.

The Telegraph's Patrick Sawer met some of those people.

A shadow industry of law firms and advisers is charging thousands of pounds to help migrants pretend to be gay in order to stay in the UK, the BBC has found.

In the first part of a major undercover investigation, we reveal how migrants whose visas are due to run out are being given fake cover stories and instructed in how to obtain fabricated evidence, including supporting letters, photographs and medical reports.

They then apply for asylum claiming to be gay and in fear for their lives if they return to Pakistan or Bangladesh.

In response to our findings, the Home Office said: "Anyone found trying to exploit the system will face the full force of the law, including removal from the UK."
