US President Donald Trump has told the UK he does not need its aircraft carriers and accused Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer of seeking to "join wars after we've already won", as the US and Israel continue to launch strikes on Iran.

In a social media post, Trump said the UK was "giving serious thought" to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East, before saying the US does not "need them". Downing Street has not responded.

One of the UK's two aircraft carriers has been placed on advanced readiness, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

Trump's comments come after US bomber jets were seen landing in the UK as the US started using British bases for "specific defensive operations".

The UK Maritime Authority confirmed that a commercial ship has been targeted off the coast of the UAE. The master of the bulk carrier reported the incident involving an explosion near the vessel. UK officials stated that all crew members are reported to be safe following the attack. The incident marks another targeting of a vessel in the region, with the explosion occurring off the UAE coast near Sharjah. Authorities received reports of the incident from the location 15 nautical miles north of UAE's Sharjah, where the attack on the ship took place.

A Brit Special Forces base in Iraq was hit by a barrage of drones last night as top UK generals confirmed that Russia was “definitely” helping Iran.
