How to Make a PERFECT POM POM Every Time
How to Make a PERFECT POM POM Every Time 121gamers 0 Views • 2 years ago

►►► VIEW THE FULL BLOG POST: https://sheepandstitch.com/lib....rary/how-to-make-a-p

Today I’ll show you how to make a pom pom without a pom pom maker!

Pom poms add cheer and whimsy to every project. They make great accessories, and they’re the cherry on top of a knitted hat. They also make great stress balls!

Thankfully, making a pom pom is not hard. If you can use a pair of scissors, then you can make a pom pom!

All you’ll need are a pair of sharp scissors, cardboard (an old tissue or cereal box works great), yarn, and a can or a jar to help you trace a circle. That’s it. No commercial pom pom maker necessary!

The secret to make the perfect pom pom is to use lots of yarns when wrapping your donut, make sure your scissors are super sharp, and finally, to use your donuts as a tracer to help you cut a perfectly round shape. So, good luck and happy pom pom-ing!

How to Make a Delicious Chicken Pot PIe...FOR ONE?! | One and Done with Max Nelson
How to Make a Delicious Chicken Pot PIe...FOR ONE?! | One and Done with Max Nelson 121gamers 4 Views • 2 years ago

CHICKEN POT PIE FOR ONE: Picture this: you're home alone, stomach rumbling, and all you can think about is sinking your teeth into a savory chicken pot pie. But let's be real, making a whole pie for yourself is a bit excessive, not to mention the leftover soggy mess that awaits you the next day. Fear not lonesome cooks, because Max Nelson is here with the very first episode of One and Done! He's got a chicken pot pie recipe that's perfectly proportioned for one - yes, ONE - that's guaranteed to satisfy.

MORE ABOUT ONE AND DONE: Max Nelson (IG/TikTok: @chillguyinbrooklyn) brings you the dishes you crave, single-serving style. Say goodbye to wasted ingredients and mediocre leftovers, because these recipes are all one - and done!

RECIPE - CHICKEN POT PIE FOR ONE:
Prep Time: 20-25 minutes
Cook Time:45-50 minutes
Serves: ONE!

Ingredients:
-1 boneless, skinless chicken breast
-4 cups chicken stock or water
-1 bay leaf (optional)
-1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns (optional)
-2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-1 small carrot, peeled and diced into half moons
-2 small stalks celery, chopped
-1/2 small yellow onion, chopped
-1 garlic clove, finely diced
-Pinch of salt and pepper
-2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-1 sprig fresh rosemary
-1 sprig fresh thyme
-1 cup heavy cream
-1/4 cup frozen peas
-1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
-1 egg, beaten

Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- In a large saucepan, bring the chicken stock or water to a boil. Add the chicken breast and optional bay leaf and peppercorns. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and turn off the heat. Let the chicken poach for 20 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- While the chicken is poaching, peel and dice the carrot, chop the celery and onion, and finely dice the garlic.
- In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced carrot, chopped celery, and chopped onion. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper and sauté for about 5 minutes, until the onions just begin to turn translucent. Add the garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir until the raw flour flavor is cooked out, about 2 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the poaching liquid and let it rest. Strain 2 cups of the stock into the vegetable mixture, reserving any extra stock for another recipe.
- Add the sprig of rosemary and thyme to the pot and stir to combine.
- Shred the chicken and add it to the pot with the heavy cream. Cook on medium heat until the sauce reaches the desired thickness.
- Remove the rosemary and thyme and stir in the frozen peas. Reduce the heat to low and taste for salt and pepper, adjusting as needed.
- Roll out the puff pastry to 1/8-inch thickness. Using an oven-safe bowl or ramekin as a guide, cut the puff pastry 1/2 inch larger than the diameter of the bowl. Cut air slits in the puff pastry to release steam while in the oven.
- Place the filling into the bowl and cover with the puff pastry. Crimp the edges and brush with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown. Serve immediately.

Josh's wife is really into gardening and planting beautiful greenery leading to her desire for a greenhouse. This way, she can keep her plants alive during the winter months and incubate some new plants so they're ready for the spring.

Josh began the design with a 3d model in Fusion 360. We got our bill of materials and the cut list then headed to our local Lowe's to get the supplies to begin framing the structure. I chose to use pressure treated lumber for this exterior addition to resist the moisture and humidity that may build up inside the greenhouse. Using Josh's measurements, we nailed together the floor and added the front and back wall studs.

Before adding a structure to your yard, you may chose to grate and level the area beforehand. Josh didn't want to tear up the yard, and here in Kentucky, the clay is super hard. In lieu of digging into the ground to level it, we chose to level the floor frame by adding 2x4 posts semi-driven into the ground. This way, Josh and i could level the floor and nail it to those posts along the span of the greenhouse. Now that we had a level surface to work from, we continued to build out the frame by connecting the front and back studs and then connecting those two walls with some ceiling joists.

For the greenhouse floor, Josh wanted something that could resist any standing water that would fall down from the plants. We found some engineered siding panels at Lowe's that are weather-resistant and come in large, 4' x 8' sheets. These panels are only 3/8" thick, so we added another layer of pressure treated 1/2" plywood to ensure the floor was strong enough to walk on. We fit three of these double-layered panels on top of the floor frame, making sure to cut around the wall studs and secured them with screws.

For the greenhouse's exterior, it is possible to simply cover the bare frame with the clear polycarbonate sheets, but because of this greenhouse's size, that would take more than the 10 panels we allotted for this project. We had to order the sheets from Lowes.com and the came in a pack of 10. So rather than sacrificing the size of the greenhouse, Josh got creative and added a decorative element to the outside that helped use less polycarbonate.

We decided to use the cutoffs of the engineered, exterior sheeting to make a skirting of wood panels that wrapped around the greenhouse. To cover any seams and to give the element some definition, Josh cut up some 1x4 trim pieces that really set the decorative element apart. It looked really nice and flowed super well with the overall design. Again, these step is optional, but it does look fantastic and it helps save on the more expensive material later.

At this point in the project, we have a nice looking frame of a greenhouse. To make it functional as a greenhouse, we need a way to trap the radiant heat from the sun inside the structure. We found many ways to do this from using reclaimed windows, rolls of plastic tarp pulled tight, glass panes, and sheets of acrylic.

WARNING:

Blowguns should not be pointed at people, animals, or any living thing. Projectiles shot at high velocity may cause deep wounds leading to infection, and/or may cause loss of vision if hit in the eye. They can also break glass and cause damage to property. This project should only be attempted with adequate knowledge, training, and adult supervision. Use caution and common sense. Use of this video content is at your own risk.

Music By: Scott & Brendo (“Kitten Air” - Instrumental) http://bit.ly/ScottBrendoiTunes

Project Inspired By:

My 5 year old son. He pulled a piece of PVC pipe out of the garbage and asked if we could make a project with it. A blowgun was the first idea that came to mind, and quickly snowballed into a really awesome project idea!

Project History & More Info:

This is an original project idea which came right out of the blue a couple of weeks ago, but is among my favorites already!

The blowgun is so simple and cheap to make, anyone can do it, and the best part is it looks completely legit, and can fire with amazing precision.

When my 5 year old son pulled a piece of plastic pipe out of the garbage and asked if we could do a project I immediately thought of making a blow dart gun. But to make it safer for indoor use, I tried using paper for ammunition. I rolled up a post-it note, and shoved the tip of a crayon inside to add some weight.

When we shot the dart, it flew over 100 feet away at high velocity, making me realize there is a real project here waiting to be developed.

I spent the next 5 days evolving different prototypes, and experimenting with different types of homemade ammunition.

I let my kids try shooting darts made with nails, but their lungs weren't powerful enough to get the darts to stick into targets, so we use marshmallows instead. The pipe is the perfect width for mini-marshmallows and can still shoot them fast enough to hurt a little, but still safe enough for indoor use.

The blowguns can be customized with different color schemes in a way that's so simple it's nearly mind blowing.

Many people have asked how to make the precision laser sight. It's just a 2" piece of the same PVC pipe, with 8 screws, as seen in the video. Simply insert the laser, and adjust the screws until the laser is pointing directly at the place where the blowgun hits the target, then make sure the screws are relatively tight so the laser doesn't move.

Have fun and good luck!
