This series is lessons from Elijah. Learning through experience definitely makes an impression. We can all learn from hard knocks, but it’s a lot less painful to learn by example. First Corinthians 10:6 and 11 say that the experiences of those in the Bible were recorded for our examples. Elijah’s story is full of great examples, both good and bad.

00:06 Andrew continues his series on Lessons from Elijah.

00:55 In 1 Corinthians 10:6-11 it says where all of these things that have happened in the Old Testament happened for our example, so that we could learn through them. Unfortunately, most people aren’t learning through the Word of God.

02:12 Ahab and Jezebel were two of the wickedest rulers that Israel had ever had. They were out to kill God’s prophets. They instituted Baal worship and outlawed worship of God. Yet, God raised up one of the greatest prophets. He sent one of the greatest prophets during one of the bleakest times in the nation of Israel’s history (1 Kings 16-18).

03:54 1 Kings 17:1 “And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth..” This was very offensive for the prophet Elijah to address King Ahab, since Ahab and Jezebel had outlawed worship of God of Israel and killed many people who identified themselves with the Lord. But, Elijah starts off by saying, “…As the Lord God of Israel liveth…” He was still the God of Israel.

06:32 What catapulted Elijah into prominence, and into a position of influence was that he had a word from God (1 Kings 17:1).

08:14 Elijah had the word quickened unto him. Since he had a word from God, he went boldly to the highest man in the entire nation who was out to kill all of the prophets of God. He pronounced to the king that God was still the God of Israel (1 Kings 17:1)

09:20 One of the lessons that I have learned from Elijah is that you’ve got to be bold. He didn’t just send a note to the king. He didn’t just get in his prayer closet about this. Elijah took the word that God had given him, and he went out into the public square. He pronounced this word. When things were good, and there was no sign of a drought, Elijah pronounced that God was calling on one for the nation.

11:57 Elijah was in charge, because he had spoken God’s word boldly (1 Kings 18:36-38). This is what we need today. We need ministers to stand up and start proclaiming the word of God. If we’d be bold with this, we’d see a difference.

13:45 In 1999, I took a stand and told people that this fear of Y2K and believing that it was going to be the beginning of tribulation was just foolishness that was only driven by fear. These were Christians that I was speaking to. I said God would not want you to hoard things, buy weapons, and kill your unsaved neighbors if they wanted to get your food. I had to take a stand and tell them that it was wrong, even though I got ridiculed.

14:34 After nothing happened with Y2K, and because I had gone on the record a year in advance saying nothing was going to happen, all of a sudden our income just exploded. I believe it’s because people had reservations about all the Y2K fear, but nobody was speaking up. People heard someone take the word of God and explain why Y2K wasn’t going to be a factor. Then they saw it come to pass. My value increased in the eyes of people, because I had spoken what the word of God said, and I wasn’t afraid to say it.

17:16 (John 8:32) “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” It’s the truth that makes you free. It’s the truth you KNOW that makes you free. You have to know it. Believers have been cowed into not speaking the word of God. One of the greatest lessons I have learned from Elijah is that it doesn’t do any good to know what the word of God has to say unless you are speaking it.

18:22 Love doesn’t set people free. It’s the truth, spoken in love, that sets people free (John 8:32; Ephesians 4:15).

19:28 Christians have been told, ‘to just pray that God will just change things.’ But, it is God who confirms the word that you speak (Mark 16:20). Prayer is like water and fertilizer, but if you haven’t planted the seed of God’s word, you can water and fertilize all you want, but it will never produce results. Prayer is not a substitute for speaking forth the word of God.

22:23 Elijah had a word from God. He spoke that word, and that word catapulted him into a position of leadership & links to next video.

http://www.awmi.net/youtube-subscribe/ Most people have lost a sense of destiny, God's will for their lives. Many even believe you just can't know God's will—that in His sovereignty, He will make it happen regardless of what you do. Too long this viewpoint has kept Christians from knowing the full potential He planned for them. But no more. God created you with a specific purpose, and the good news is, He wants you to find it. This insightful teaching will guide you on your path to find, follow and fulfill God's will in your life.

00:30 Welcome to our Monday's broadcast of The Gospel Truth.
05:32 You needed to marry somebody who shared your belief, and it goes on to say, because they will turn your heart away from the Lord.
07:42 We're living under a better covenant, and it was best for one man to have one woman.
11:19 Jesus turned water into wine, but I can emphatically say that drunkenness is wrong, and drinking wine is a step towards drunkenness.
16:52 In the book of Proverbs where it says that a person that gets drunk is like a person who tries to sleep on top of a flagpole.
20:05 Instead of turning to these natural things, you need to turn to the Lord.
