SFHandyman's Instructable article: http://bit.ly/IBSFHandyman

Project History & More Info:

Who doesn't love gummy candy, and who doesn't love LEGO?

5 years ago I was fascinated with it, wondering how it was made, and what gave it its gummy texture. It feels so good on the teeth to bite into it, and my kids go crazy for them .. so I spent a bit of time researching how they're made commercially.

My biggest motivation for doing this was to see if we could make our own at home, and I'm actually still trying to figure out how to make gelatin and corn syrup from scratch, so if I can figure out how to do that, maybe I'll show how to do it in another project video.

Only a small handful of you have ever seen the LEGO Gummy video I made in 2010, and that's because it was nearly 5 years ago, before I really got serious about making videos. I took it off my channel in 2012 because I had full intentions of making a better version, so here it is .. 3 years later! :)

Now I wanted to make candies that made people look twice, and LEGO bricks instantly came to mind because what's more awesome than LEGO and gummy put together? But I wasn't sure where could you get a mold for making LEGO bricks.

Surfing around the internet, I stumbled across an awesome Instructable by SFHandyman: http://bit.ly/IBSFHandyman

To my amazement, not only had he shown how to make a mold for making LEGO candy, he also made LEGO gummies as well!

I played around with loads of variations in recipes to see what texture and tastes I liked the best. And I've kept experimenting off and on for the last 4 years, using my kids and wife for feedback. They gobble them up no matter what variations I use, but I've finally settled on 1/2 cup of very cold water, 1/4 cup of corn syrup, 2 packets of unflavored gelatin, and 1 pack of Jell-O. I've found that the corn syrup seems to help smooth out the texture and the taste.

If you try making this recipe, it's very important to start the gelatin in cold water. Stir it up, then let it sit for 5 minutes before you turn on the heat. Otherwise, you'll get gobby clumps of undissolved gelatin in your syrup that doesn't look very appetizing.

I originally made my silicone mold with a 2 part mix from a special effects supply company. I used real LEGO bricks set on a LEGO base, and built a makeshift retaining wall with bricks and play-dough. I don't plan to make a tutorial on how to make the mold, but I want to do a video on how to make a silicone mold in general. It's amazing to see how much detail the silicone can transfer to the final gummy products. If you look closely at my candies you can even see the little “LEGO” text on top of the gummy LEGO studs.

To make sour gummies, we often add citric acid. They are incredible! But if you don't have citric acid, try taking SFHandyman's suggestion and add vitamin C. The citric and ascorbic acids in the vitamins sour them the same way, which actually makes them taste just as great, and enriches them with vitamin C as well.

This project works well for: how to make lego gummies, Halloween projects, lego gummy candy, gummy lego, how to make lego gummy candy, lego candy 101, DIY lego, make your own legos, how to make gummy candy out of legos, how to make jello, homemade gummy bears, how to make toy food, how to make candy toys, and more!

Butter chicken curry or murg makhani is a curry of chicken in a spiced tomato, butter and cream sauce. It originated in India as a curry.
The curry was developed in 1947 by the founders of the Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi, India. The curry was made "by chance" by mixing leftover chicken in a tomato gravy, rich in butter and Cream In 1974, a recipe was published for "Murgh Makhani (Tandoori chicken cooked in butter and tomato sauce)". In 1975, the English phrase "butter chicken" curry first appeared in print, as a speciality of the house at Gaylord Indian restaurant in Manhattan. how to tell someone's fortune:
- open the flaps (of the triangles, not the squares) and frite random
fortunes underneith the flaps
- Have someone pick one of the colors.
- Spell out the color and move the fortune teller in or out for each
letter. For example, if the person says "red," move the fortune
teller out for "r," in for "e," and out again for "d." Pause it in place
where it lands.
- Have the person look into the "mouth" of the fortune teller and
pick one of the four numbers that's visible. Let's say she picks 5.
Move the fortune teller in, then out, then in, then out, then in, for a
total of five moves. Pause the fortune teller in place where it
lands.
- Have the person look into the fortune teller and pick a new
number. This time, open the flap and read the fortune that goes
with that number.

Ingredients:
For the cake:
2 1/3 cups (290g) Flour
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup (115g) Butter, softened
1/2 cup (120ml) Oil
1½ cups (300g) Sugar
3 Eggs
1 cup (240ml) Buttermilk (more if needed)
1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
For the frosting:
2/3 cup (150g) Butter, softened
1/2 cup (120ml) Heavy cream, cold
1¼ cups (160g) Icing sugar
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
1¾ cups (400g) Cream cheese
Decoration:
confetti sprinkles

Directions:
1. Make the cake: Preheat oven to 350F (175C). Line two 8-inch (20cm) round cake pans with parchment paper and grease bottom and sides.
2. In one bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, add salt, stir and set aside.
3. In a large bowl cream together butter and sugar. Then add eggs, one at the time, beating until combined after each addition. Add oil, vanilla extract and beat until incorporated.
4. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk, beginning by adding 1/2 of the flour mixture, then 1/2 of the buttermilk. Then repeat this process. Beat until fully incorporating after each addition.
5. Divide the batter between prepared pans. Bake for about 40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Allow the cakes to cool for 5-10 minutes in the pan, then release from the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack.
7. Make the frosting: in a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl beat heavy cream to stiff peaks. Then fold into the cream cheese mixture.
8. Assembly: Place one cake layer with flat side down. Spread a layer of frosting, place the second layer of cake on top of the frosting, flat side up. Spread evenly the frosting on top and sides of the cake. Decorate the edges of the cake with sprinkles.
9. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Lyrics:
I had a bad week
Spent the evening pretending it wasn’t that deep
You could see in my eyes that it was taking over
I guess I was just blind and caught up in the moment

You know you take all of my stress right down
Help me get it off my chest and out
Into the ether with the rest of this mess
That just keeps us depressed
We forget that we’re here right now

‘Coz we’re living life at a different pace
Stuck in a constant race keep the pressure on
You’re bound to break
Something’s got to change
We should just be cancelling all our plans
And not give a damn
If we’re missing out on what the people think is right

Seeing through a picture behind the screen
And forget to be, lose the conversation for the message that you’ll never read
I think maybe you and me
Oh we should head out to the place where the music plays

And then we’ll go all night

Two stepping with the woman I love
All my troubles turn to nothing when I’m in your eyes
Electrified, we’ll keep turning up and go all night
Oh we had dips and falls in our time
But we know what it feels to be low then up, alone and then loved
And all we need is us to go
All night, night
Two stepping with the woman I love
Night, yeah, all we need is us

Baby
Sun coming up when we walk out
We lost the track of time
Everything that I been dealing with ain’t even cross my mind
I don’t see nobody in here but us for real
For you I’m blind
We go anywhere
It don’t take much for us to catch a vibe

Come here I need to tell you something
Let me whisper in your ear
Do whatever to get you there I’ll put you on a Lear
Private island for a month straight
They’ll think you disappeared
Lamb truck look good on ya
I’m copping you that urus
I think I’m bout ready to make love in this club
Only thing I need is my drank and my drugs
I done got on 10 and forgot where I was
Some parts I don’t like but this part I love

Only me and my guys
I been having me a good time
You can see it in all in my eyes
Two stepping with shorty
Got her rocking side to side
You should let me know when you get ready to ride cause

We’ll go all night

Two stepping with the woman I love
All my troubles turn to nothing when I’m in your eyes
Electrified, we’ll keep turning up and go all night
Oh we had dips and falls in our time
But we know what it feels to be low then up, alone then loved
And all we need is us to go
All night, night
Two step and with the woman I love
Night, yeah, all we need is us to go all night
Night, night
Two step and with the woman I love
Night, yeah, all we need is us to go all night
