My name is Mike Jones, and I'm a barista at Third Rail Coffee right by Washington Square Park in New York City. I'm going to teach you some basic coffee-making skills.

Alright, I'm going to talk to you about latte art. Latte art is kind of the exciting part of making espresso drink. It's what gets a lot of people really pumped about making coffee. It's not necessarily a representation of a quality beverage, but it definitely shows that the person who made it cared—it's the mark of a professional, similar to plating with food. Now, the first thing you need is a good shot of espresso. You need the milk steamed properly with good micro foam, and then you have to pour, keeping a few things in mind. This is velocity, so basically how fast you're pouring. And then where the milk is going in the cup, and where it's flowing outwards. It's kind of something you have to feel out and you really have to practice it many many times to get down. So we're going to start off by doing the heart. This is sort of the basic latte art design and then the other one would be a rosetta which is a fern, and then a tulip. So heart, rosetta, tulip are the three basic designs you can do with latte art. So I'm going to start off making the heart, pulling a shot, steaming the milk and then pouring. Alright, so when you're starting to pour latte art, the first thing you want to do is pour from a greater distance up, or from a greater height so that way the milk is actually going to go underneath the espresso and then as you get closer and start pouring faster, the foam rises to the top and this is when you start controlling it. So to make the heart, you're basically just going to be pouring into the center until you see it's about three-quarters full. So I'm pouring into the center there. Then as I get closer, the foam will rise to the top and you just kind of shake it, and then you lift it up at the end to suck it in and cut through. So again, pouring to the center, getting close when it's three-quarters full, pulling up to suck in and then cutting through. That's a heart.

UPDATE: I have been getting a lot of questions regarding exactly how much cake batter and buttercream that should be used for this rainbow cake recipe. If you want a cake as large as the one that I made, you will need 1.5 amounts of the batter recipe linked below and at LEAST double the amount of the buttercream. If you are using a box mix, I would use two boxes (mixed according to the package) and only use about 1.5 amounts of the batter that is made. Hope that helps you all out!

HEY EVERYBODY!! Today we're doing crafts!!! This is one of my favorite things to do as a family right now! I love creating things and using my imagination! Mom got it all set up for us and called us to come downstairs! Niko, Dad, and I ran really fast to see the crafts but the whole downstairs was covered in lava! We ran through the lava obstacle course so we could make it to mom! When we got there she told us that we were going to gather ideas and take turns making crafts!! We started the party with making a turkey hand on paper! It was so fun!! We got to paint our hands then turn the prints into turkeys! We all took turns doing it and they looked so good! We then decided to make mermaids! We used popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and felt to make our very own versions of mermaids! Our mermaids love adventure and singing! They quickly became friends and they played mermaid ball together!! After building our new friends, we had time for one more craft and we picked snowflakes!! It's been getting cold outside so this craft is perfect!! After we made our snow we took it outside and let it snow on the ground!!

Homemade Sauce:

Tools:
-Tomato press
-Mason jars
Ingredients: 
-Tomatoes 
-Salt
-Basil

Recipe:
Step 1: 
Wash all tomatoes. After washing, cut the tomatoes in quarters and slice off stems. Put the tomatoes in pot with a little water and place on stove. Cook until boiling while continually stirring. After they are finished cooking pour them in big bucket and set to side until ready to press.
Step 2:
Take a pot of the cooked down tomatoes and strain out extra juice. Now put into machine, saving the skins/pulp. Run the skins/pulp back through the machine, adding a little of the tomato juice as you need too. 
Step 4:
After collecting sauce from the machine, put into pots and back on stove. Add a handful of basil and a few handfuls of salt depending on the size the of pot (watch video for reference).
Step 5:
After bringing sauce to boil begin filling up jars. Seal jars and place upside down until cooled. Once completely cooled down you can put right side up and store in cold cellar until ready to eat.
To prepare before eating, cook in pot with some olive oil, garlic, and parsley.
