PREFACE, Pistis Sophia; A Gnostic Text

IN the Introduction (pp. xxxv f.) to the first edition (1896), the translator wrote:
"In presenting the following translation to the English-reading public, I may say that I should not have ventured on such an undertaking if any Coptic scholar had undertaken the task, or I had heard that such a task was contemplated. In a matter of so great difficulty every possible liability to error should be eliminated, and it stands to reason that the translation of a translation must needs be but an apology for a first-hand version. Nevertheless I am not without predecessors. The Coptic MS. itself is in the first place a translation, so that even Coptic scholars must give us the version of a translation. I am persuaded also that the anonymous and very imperfect French translation (1856) in the Appendix to Migne's Dictionnaire des Apocryphes (vol. i.) is made from Schwartze's Latin version (1851) and not from the Coptic text. C. W. King in The Gnostics and their Remains (2nd ed., 1887) has also translated a number of pages of the Pistis Sophia from Schwartze. Some three or four years ago Mr. Nutt, King's publisher, sent out a notice proposing the publication of the whole of King's translation, but the project fell through. Last year (1895) I offered to edit this translation of King's, but was informed that the literary legatee of the deceased scholar was of the opinion that it would be unfair to his memory to publish a MS. that was in so incomplete a condition."In 1890 I had already translated Schwartze's Latin version into English and published pages 1 to 252, with comments, notes, etc., in magazine-form from April 1890 to April 1891. But I hesitated to put it forward in book-form, and should not have done so, but for the appearance of Amélineau's French translation in 1895. I then went over the whole again and checked it by Amélineau's version. I was further induced to venture on this undertaking, because the narrative, though dealing with mystical and therefore obscure subjects, is in itself exceedingly simple, and therefore mistakes cannot so readily creep in as into a difficult philosophical work. I, therefore, present my translation with all hesitation, but at the same time think that the English public, which is steadily increasing its interest in mysticism and allied subjects, will be better satisfied with half a loaf than with no bread.

Did you know that some Herbs can clear mucus from your lungs, kill viruses, and fight infections? That's right, it can all occur naturally!

🟦 1. Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus has a component called cineole which is an active ingredient that works as an expectorant. This means that it can ease a cough and aid in the removal of secretions. Cineole has antioxidant and antimicrobial effects that can provide a boost to your immune system as well. It reacts with the mucous membranes of the lungs and helps loosen up secretions so that they can be coughed up more easily.

🟦 2. Horehound
The horehound leaf, which comes from the mint family, is actually a common ingredient in cough drops and cough syrup. That is because, its natural properties work as an expectorant to aid in the removal of mucus and secretions from the lungs. This means that it would be useful for those with allergies, sinus infections, and chest congestion.

🟦 3. Osha Root
The roots of this herb contain several components that can provide a boost to your lungs and respiratory system. Specifically, it helps increase blood circulation to your lungs which, in turn, helps improve oxygenation throughout the entire body. Osha root also has antihistamine properties which works well for soothing sinus infections and other respiratory illnesses. Examples include: cough, sore throat, bronchitis, and common colds. A few drops of concentrated osha root extract can be added to your water or beverage of choice. The numbing effects help to alleviate the irritated tissues of your airways and respiratory tract.

🟦 4. Ginseng
It's an herb that has been used in traditional Asian medicine for centuries. Ginseng is known for its potent antioxidant properties which works well for fighting inflammation. Not only is this beneficial for your lungs, it's good for pretty much every organ and system in the human body. Not to mention, studies found that ginseng actually can provide a boost to your immune system as well.

That's not even why we included ginseng in this video. The reason is, studies found that ginseng is beneficial for those with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). And in case you weren't aware, COPD is the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States, so it affects far more people than you probably realize.

🟦 5. Mullein
It's another herb that has traditionally been used as a remedy for the lungs and respiratory tract thanks to its soothing ingredients. The mullein leaf has antibacterial properties that fight against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Some studies found that it even has antiviral and antifungal properties as well. This trifecta is good when it comes to treating breathing issues that are associated with colds and respiratory infections.

Natural Glaucoma Treatment for High Eye Pressure - How to Lower Eye Pressure Naturally cashinvids 22 Views • 4 years ago

Learn what causes Glaucoma and how mindfulness meditation could help lower eye pressure! If you want to learn how to lower eye pressure naturally, this could be a way to help.

Check out my series all about Glaucoma here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40eE6LY3Ss0&list=PLzi60fSuOmPAemM7_DUJ2TvlKx46aqFtQ&index=1&t=16s

In this video we reviewed a 2019 study published in the Journal of Glaucoma where patients already being treated for primary open angle glaucoma were assigned either as a control group or as a treatment group. The Control group was instructed to keep taking their medications as instructed but otherwise received no further instructions. The Treatment group was assigned to perform mindfulness meditation with a meditation guide for 1 hour a day for 3 weeks.
After looking at eye pressure, stress hormones and quality of life measures, the study found that about 75% of the treatment group had a reduction in high eye pressure by about 25%

Open angle glaucoma treatment typically involves medicated eye drops or surgical procedures to lower the intraocular pressure. While this study does support that natural remedies such as meditation can lower the high ocular eye pressure, it is important to note the patients in this study also continued their medical treatment for glaucoma.

Please continue to take your medications for glaucoma treatment and consult with your treating eye doctor before ever discontinuing your glaucoma treatments.
