Major hospitals in London have declared a critical incident after a cyber attack led to the cancellation of operations and the loss of blood transfusions.

Some procedures and operations have been cancelled or have been redirected to other NHS providers as hospital bosses continue to establish what work can be carried out safely.

Labour has denied reports it's offering peerages to former MPs so it can parachute so-called "Starmtroopers" - Keir Starmer's chosen candidates - into their seats. A number of left-wing candidates have allegedly been blocked from standing in what some are calling a party purge of Corbynistas. Diane Abbott, meanwhile, has tweeted in the last hour that she intends to run and win her seat. The row continues to overshadow Labour's efforts to get its election messages out - their focus today was on how they plan to reduce migration, while the Conservatives were talking health.

Britain’s defence chief, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, doesn't believe another world war is on the horizon.

Ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, he spoke about the comparisons made between WW2 and the conflict in Ukraine and told Sky News he is confident we are not heading towards another world war.

He said: "Putin does not want a war with NATO. Putin does not want a nuclear war. And we have enormous overmatch because of the strength of NATO."

Nigel Farage has had a drink thrown over him after the new Reform UK leader launched his election campaign in Clacton, where he's hoping to be elected as an MP.

He had been speaking to reporters in the pub after his busy rally at Clacton Pier, in which he launched his campaign with crowds of supporters - and others protesting his candidacy.

China has accused the UK’s intelligence agency of recruiting a couple as spies.

According to China’s Ministry of State Security, the two state department employees were successfully recruited after MI6 operatives exploited the man’s “strong desire for money”.

China did not reveal how it uncovered the case involving Mr Wang and Ms Zhou, saying only that it came after a "thorough investigation".

The case is still under investigation and Chinese officials did not say if the couple would be charged.

The BBC has contacted the UK authorities for a response.
