Maylene has endured many storms in her life, but it was in the wake of the 2013 Moore, Oklahoma, tornado that she found the strength to truly rebuild her faith.
The day of the tornado, Maylene was ready to give up on a life that had completely overwhelmed her. Her second husband had left her to raise their children alone and she was working three jobs to keep the family afloat. She felt helpless. But after surviving the tornado that day, Maylene knew that she and her family could make it through anything with God’s help.
“My whole life, I’d felt abandoned. Like there were pieces missing. After the storm, God answered my prayers. He picked up the pieces and filled that void. I don’t ever have to feel like I’m going to be alone or abandoned again because He’s going to be there for me every step of the way.”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
We asked kids to tell us who Jesus is in their own words.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. He loves you. He lived and died so that you could have peace and joy in this life and return to live with God, your Heavenly Father, in the next life.
Jesus loved others, served others, and obeyed God’s commandments. He wants us to live like Him, and if we do, we will be happy.

The Articles of Faith are a set of 13 core belief statements that were written by Joseph Smith in 1842 as a response to a newspaper editor’s request for information about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Articles of Faith were officially canonized as scripture in 1880.
The Articles of Faith describe fundamental beliefs about the nature of God, the mission and Atonement of Jesus Christ, and the holy scriptures. They also address the importance of religious freedom, tolerance for the beliefs of others, missionary work, baptism, and obedience to secular laws and governments.
The Articles of Faith provide a good summary of the beliefs of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but they do not include all the Church’s beliefs. Members of the Church believe in continuing revelation—in other words, God’s continuing communication with people on earth, which allows for new doctrine to be given. The Articles of Faith contain messages that help people become better followers of Jesus Christ so that they can return to live with God.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
We asked kids to tell us about the Atonement of Jesus Christ in their own words.
Before He died on the cross, Jesus prayed to God in the Garden of Gethsemane on our behalf. Jesus’s suffering for our sins in Gethsemane and on the cross at Calvary is called the Atonement. He suffered for us so that we can be made clean and return to live with our Heavenly Father. By following Him, we can honor His sacrifice.
What can you do today to follow Jesus?
(Matthew 26:35-57)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Did you know that this touching story of selflessness and love is true?
When Heber J. Grant was young, his parents were too poor to replace his old, thin jacket. Instead, his mother surprised him with a winter coat she had made by hand. Heber loved it.
One day, as he was playing in the snowy street, he noticed a small boy crouched in front of an exhaust grate, trying to get warm. Heber gave his new coat to the boy, who needed it more than he did.
This Christmas and always, take time to notice the people around you. What can you do to help them? Your service will warm your heart and theirs.
“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matt. 25:40).

The grief accompanying the loss of a loved one is as inevitable as death itself, but relying on God and the people around you can help you get through it. Missionaries can talk with you about facing trials with the help of God: https://bit.ly/3Z7urWr

Life's personal trials stretch far beyond the current COVID-19 pandemic. Enduring life's trials requires us to fill our personal storehouses with faith, truth, and testimony. When we seek to truly hear Jesus Christ, we will be guided to know what to do in any circumstance.

Jesus calls Peter, Andrew, James, and John to follow Him.
Matthew 4:18–22
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
These original, short videos depict scenes from Jesus Christ’s life, ranging from the angel foretelling
Jesus Christ’s birth to the Savior’s Resurrection. It is our hope that these New Testament videos help
people to visualize what they have only been able to imagine and help give a better understanding
and appreciation for the life and ministry of the Savior Jesus Christ.

We asked kids to tell us the story of Jesus calling His Apostles to be “fishers of men” in their own words. In this story, some of Jesus’s Apostles were fishermen before they met Him. One day, Jesus came to them and said He could make them fishers of men. They left everything and followed Him. They spent their days inviting people to listen to Jesus and follow Him too. If you serve and teach others like Jesus and His Apostles did, you can be a fisher of men too.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Just like our smartphone, we start out each day charged and ready to go. However, as we begin to complete tasks on our day’s to-do list, it begins to drain from our energy stores until eventually, we’re left with little to no energy. Just like plugging in your phone, we periodically need to add energy to extend our battery’s life. But how do we do it?
The way to ensure that we have energy when we need it is to take small moments of recharge throughout the day. The Savior experienced fatigue while He served and helped others. He too took moments for Himself to rest, meditate, and pray. Be sure to stop and take time to breathe and reconnect throughout your day. As you feel that renewal, you will have the needed energy and strength to act, love, and lift as He would.
