Gnosticism is infamous for its conception of the cosmos as the creation of the satanic Demiurge. But along with this entity is a retinue of demonic cosmic powers or Archons that act as co-creators and wardens of this prison universe. Join me as I explore the origins, nature and function of the Archons. From their terrible origins as primeval excretions of the Demiurge, to their dreadful creation of the human physical and psychical body - even a renegade Archon that defied the Demiurge and is even said to have created Jesus Christ. The Archons are an often overshadowed aspect of Gnosticism. Let's trace their origins in the demonization of Yahweh, the Cosmic Daimons and Greco-Egyptian Magic.

Here is a delicious coleslaw recipe that goes great with fried chicken or my favorite, fried fish. This recipe is best made a the day before you eat or serve it. This also is a great take along side dish to your next barbecue, fish fry or potluck. It's a great way to use cabbage and makes a great side. You can adjust the salt or sweetness to your taste, but I think this is a good place to start.

INGREDIENTS
1 TO 1 1/2 lbs cabbage
1 shredded medium to large carrot
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp grated onion
1/4 tsp onion powder (optional)
3 tbls sugar (adjust to your taste)
1 1/2 tsp salt
pepper to taste
1 tbls juice of lemon
*BE SURE TO REFRIGERATE AT LEAST 12 HOURS for best results

This informal Gospel Session was recorded on March 31, 1972 @ RCA Studio C in California after a rehearsal for an upcoming tour.

You don't have to be of a religious calling to enjoy the music, just an appreciation of good music is the only requirement.

Every conceivable type of American vernacular music influenced Elvis Presley, but perhaps the least recognized of these styles was gospel. That was not only an incredibly important part of his arsenal, it was the only genre in which Presley ever won a Grammy award, something that speaks volumes about that process.

He sang in church as a young boy barely knowing the words but the early influence added gospel music to his musical arsenal culminating in a potent musical mix - ultimately entitled rock 'n' roll.

White or black, quartet or choral, Presley knew and loved many composers, vocalists and groups, and he made sensational gospel albums.

There's something special about his gospel music when heard for the first time and it strikes a powerful emotional chord with the listener and there's no doubt it inspired Presley too becoming an important part of his make-up.

Vocals: Elvis Presley, JD Sumner & The Stamps, Charlie Hodge
Piano: Charlie Hodge, Donnie Sumner
Acoustic Guitar: James Burton

The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

The Hymns Of Hermes - G.R.S. Mead Full Esoteric Audiobook w/ Music. These are the remaining fragments from the otherwise lost hymns of Hermes Trismegistus. Included are the gnostic hymns: A Triple Trisagion, A Hymn to All-Father God, The Secret Hymnody, A Hymn of Grace for Gnosis and A Song of Praise to the Aeon. These writings are attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, an ancient Egyptian sage, the founder of all arts and sciences, both mundane and spiritual. Rather than being an actual person, Hermes is the Egyptian personification of the "Gnostic Revealer." Hymns of Hermes examines Hermetic ecstatic hymns, which are songs of a poetic nature used to describe the Gnosis of Hermetic attainment and the ecstatic personal experience of the divine. The Kybalion - The Principle of Rhythm - Hermetic teachings, Gnostic wisdom, occult knowledge. This Principle embodies the truth that in everything there is manifested a measured motion, to and fro; a flow and inflow; a swing backward and forward; a pendulum-like movement; a tide-like ebb and flow; a high-tide and low-tide; between the two poles which exist in accordance with the Principle of Polarity described a moment ago. There is always an action and a reaction; an advance and a retreat; a rising and a sinking. This is in the affairs of the Universe, suns, worlds, men, animals, mind, energy, and matter. This law is manifest in the creation and destruction of worlds; in the rise and fall of nations; in the life of all things; and finally in the mental states of Man (and it is with this latter that the Hermetists find the understanding of the Principle most important). The Hermetists have grasped this Principle, finding its universal application, and have also discovered certain means to overcome its effects in themselves by the use of the appropriate formulas and methods. They apply the Mental Law of Neutralization. They cannot annul the Principle, or cause it to cease its operation, but they have learned how to escape its effects upon themselves to a certain degree depending upon the Mastery of the Principle. They have learned how to USE it, instead of being USED BY it. In this and similar methods, consist the Art of the Hermetists. The Master of Hermetics polarizes himself at the point at which he desires to rest, and then neutralizes the Rhythmic swing of the pendulum which would tend to carry him to the other pole. All individuals who have attained any degree of Self-Mastery do this to a certain degree, more or less unconsciously, but the Master does this consciously, and by the use of his Will, and attains a degree of Poise and Mental Firmness almost impossible of belief on the part of the masses who are swung backward and forward like a pendulum. This Principle and that of Polarity have been closely studied by the Hermetists, and the methods of counteracting, neutralizing, and USING them form an important part of the Hermetic Mental Alchemy.

"Lo Boier" is a mysterious Chant left for us by the Gnostic Cathars, when they were killed and annhiliated by religious powers in the 13th/14th century. It is highly symbolic and contains a hidden message for spiritual seekers. Singer: Patrick Lenk.

The Egyptian Gnostic Manuscript Library found in 1945 has transformed how we think about ancient Philosophy and Spirituality. Among those 12 codices is one more mysterious than all the others. Nag Hammadi Codex VI combines tales of Jesus as the angelic healer Lithargoel, narratives about the salvation of the soul in history, paradoxical utterances of an androgyne deity, the defeat of the persecuting Imitator by "Our Great Power" and several texts of profound Hermetic Wisdom and even a dash of Plato. In this episode I explore what is perhaps the most perplexing collection of ancient mystery wisdom to survive from antiquity.

The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 108

Marxism is not a philosophy. Neither are its derivatives, like "Wokeness" (Woke Marxism). These are a strain within a broader category of cult religious movements that pose as economics, sociology, and politics. The broad name for these Esoteric cult religions is "Gnosticism," but that's a confusing label for a number of reasons. The first of these reasons is that "gnosticism" as a term, either as a descriptive or proper noun, means several things at once, which requires clarification. Another is that as economic, social, and political movements, they don't look at all like the pre-modern spiritualist and mystical movements that go by those names. In this groundbreaking episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay clarifies the term "gnosticism" and unmasks what amounts to a huge "New Age" movement in the Middle Ages as the source of a thread of Gnostic cult belief that has shaped every facet of the West for at least the last three hundred years. He also explains how the shift from the Middle Ages to the Modern period included a shift in the Gnostic project, out of overt spiritualism and into exactly those society-building realms of economics, sociology, and politics. Join him to gain a completely new understanding of these dangerous movements and how they're relevant to our lives today.
