Dermot Kennedy - One Life (Live) | Vevo Studio Performance

His dad drove him to open mic nights in Dublin. His mom encouraged him to study music at university. Both gave him the green light when it came to busking in the streets of Ireland and the US. No one was really standing in the way of Dermot Kennedy moving forward with his tunes, and confidence is something the singer always had in his back pocket. It was bolstered when Glen Hansard gave him a thumbs up and his phone number. When Kennedy's 'Without Fear' debut arrived in 2019 his various supporters were proven right: here was a sizable talent to be shared with the world. "Giants," "Power Over Me," and "Outnumbered" made an impact. He was on his way. Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Tiny Desk - dude played everywhere, and was nominated for a 2020 BRIT award. Then he moved to New York to make his 'Sonder' follow-up and it worked out well because Gotham is a place where he was reminded to "have empathy and be conscious of other people's struggles and triumphs." Indeed, that's pretty much what the term 'sonder' means: an awareness of the lives being lived around you. His sophomore disc hit last November, and we finally got Kennedy into our UK studio to roll through some of its gems. Passion was everywhere on this take of "One Life." More performances coming soon.

COVERED in SNOW - EXPENSIVE SEA SALT, HOW I MAKE IT for FREE | DIVING for HUGE SCALLOPS - Ep. 168

Jake and Nicolle and their son Fox are living in the temperate rain forest and the winter is almost over. But, before winter ends nature is throwing a variety of magical weather our way including sun, rain, wind, snow, hail, sleet, and graupel many times all in the same day. The rain forest is an abundant and mysterious place. A local barge captain told us yesterday he saw his first bear of the season on the beach so the bears are now awake also. In this episode of the Jake and Nicolle show we powder kelp seaweed, make our own sea salt using fire and ocean water, free dive for fish and scallops, cook home made and home grown potato gnocchi, and chop wood endlessly to stay warm. We have now used about 50% of our wood storage and won't be able to dry more wood until end of May. Do you think we will make it? Starting in our next episode every @OffGridLife episode will cover the construction of a massive 40' x 20' greenhouse and the building of a shipping container earthship home. We finally get a tractor to help Jake complete these projects (and to save his back). Let us know your favorite part of this episode below in the comments and starting in Episode 169 greenhouse, sawmill, and shipping container home get serious. Also don't forget about our sailboat ⛵️ APPA. We will be doing some sails and installing wind turbines and solar arches on APPA to take her OFF THE GRID!

We Built The Most Powerful Off-Grid Electrical System! cashinvids 22 Views • 4 years ago

For over 598 days, we've been living without a reliable power source in our cabin in the woods. We constantly run out of power, and we wish we could show you what that looks like, but it's just dark! Think about all of the things you use electricity for every day. Pretty tough to go without, right?! Well it's something we've learned not to take for granted, because it's been so hard to come by... UNTIL NOW! We're installing a 48 volt electrical system with over 10,000 watts of solar power and 28 kWh of battery storage to harvest the sun's energy! This has been our most complex project to date. While this isn't our first time dabbling in electricity (if you recall the first three letters of our channel, we built our van--including all the electric--ourselves from top to bottom), but it is one of our most ambitious! After a lot of hard work, mistakes, sweat and tears, it all comes down to the moment of truth: will our power work?! The answer, all comes down to a flick of the switch! Special thanks to Battleborn Batteries for all their incredible help with everything. We couldn't have done it without you! What do you think of our power system?! Did you have any idea solar could generate so much energy for a cabin?? Comment below!

Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Thank you for being here with us for cabin life, van life and all the in between!

Lyrics:

Tiger-Lily moved to the city
She’d just turned twenty-one
And I said, “Here’s my number, hit me up
If you’re needing anyone”

And I could be anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone
For you
Anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light
Be your light
Be your light

Well, I gave her love
But it wasn’t enough
So she called me up
Just to call it off
I can’t afford to make that mistake this time
And if you’re flying over
The Serengeti
Tiger-Lily
Don’t forget me
The way I am, not the way I was

And I could be anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone
For you
Anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light
Be your light
Be your light

Anyone for you

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light

I could love you
I could be
Anything you want of me
And in the darkness
Of the night
Baby, let me be your light
Be your light
Be your light

I could be your light

Lyrics
Once upon a time in South Africa
I turned to you under the bleeding moon
The ships were sailing in beneath the table top
It was three o' clock, the night was still
Yeah, we stayed at Joanna's for a night or two
Though she never really saw us, we were too consumed
We never really even got to see the place
We were way too busy chasing number plates

I don't even wanna go out tonight
No, I've got you by my side
I don't even need to sugarcoat it, girl
No, I've got you by my side, by my side

I got to know you better on the trampoline
Although I am aware I won't know everything
And it's a big jump, big jump
Pull yourself together, boy
You haven't got forever, boy
And if this feels like heaven, well

I don't even wanna go out tonight
No, I've got you by my side
I don't even need to sugarcoat it, girl
No, I've got you by my side

I don't even wanna go out tonight
No, I've got you by my side
I don't even need to sugarcoat it, girl
No, I've got you by my side

And it's a big jump, big jump
Pull yourself together, boy
Big jump, big jump
You haven't got forever, boy
Big jump, big jump
And if it feels like heaven, well
Now it feels like heaven
When it feels like heaven

I don't even wanna go out tonight
No, I've got you by my side
I don't even need to sugarcoat it, girl
No, I've got you by my side

I don't even wanna go out tonight
No, I've got you by my side
I don't even need to sugarcoat it, girl
No, I've got you by my side, by my side
