Here we have "Johnny Mathis" with his song "A Certain Smile" which was released in 1958 and i believe it made number 4 here in the UK charts. This song was made for the film of the same name that came out 1957 i think.what a great song this is and what a fantastic voice Johnny has.

First of the shorter range videos for contemporary singers on my channel. This type of format won't suit every singer so this won't be a common occurence. I thought of doing a full vocal range for Johnny but due to the breadth of his discography (over seventy albums, not counting live stuff) I thought this would be more fitting. I mean, after all, I don't wanna make a 4 hour long video lmaoo.

Regarding his voice, he is a wonderful trained tenor with a development across all registers (except his head voice - it is a bit underdeveloped and underused). He rarely sang past the B-flat 4 but he had a solid C5 which he demonstrated a few times. And yes, that A5 is him.

Johnny Mathis recorded "This Way, Mary" in 1972. It was released only as a single, but never on an album.

"This Way, Mary" is the love theme for the film, MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS, released in 1972, and starring Vanessa Redgrave in the title role.
