UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticized the Shadow Justice Secretary’s remarks about Muslims praying publicly in Trafalgar Square, highlighting a shift in the Conservative Party’s stance.
Starmer stated: “Even Tommy Robinson, I can hardly believe I’m saying this, has said today that if the shadow justice secretary had made these hateful comments two years ago, the Conservative party would have kicked him out. Now Tommy Robinson isn’t some sort of moral signpost. He was pointing out how much their party has changed. They’re more inclined to his views and he’s right about that.”

The PM’s comments underscore concerns over rising intolerance and the perceived alignment of party policies with extremist viewpoints.

While there is an average of 64 murders a day in South Africa, the belief a disproportionate number of white farmers are the victims of crimes is not true. Nor is it accurate that most attacks on farmers are race-based instead of motivated by robbery.

Channel 4 News spoke with white farmers who say they don't feel safe, as well as black farmers who have been trying for decades to regain the land that was taken away from them.

Then, just a few weeks later, President Donald Trump "ambushed the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, as he visited the White House, playing a video of anti-white songs and showing purported pictures of atrocities against white farmers. Amplified by Elon Musk, these allegations have sparked international debate—but do they hold any truth?

This video examines South Africa’s complex history of apartheid, land dispossession, and the efforts made to correct these injustices since 1994. While land redistribution remains controversial and slow-moving, there is no evidence of systematic, state-sanctioned violence against white South Africans. Donald Trump confronted South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa during a tense exchange in the White House on Wednesday, with a series of contested claims about the killings of white farmers in the country.

The US president asked his staff to play a video mostly showing South African opposition politician Julius Malema chanting a song calling for violence against white farmers.

The video also included footage showing rows of crosses, which he claimed was a burial site for murdered white farmers, and presented Ramaphosa with copies of articles which he said documented widespread brutality against South Africa's white minority.

BBC correspondent Pumza Fihlani went to the area where Trump said was proof of this genocide, and fact-checked his claims.
