President Donald Trump has expressed disappointment with United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer for blocking the use of Diego Garcia base to carry out strikes on Iran. This comes despite the UK allowing America to use multiple bases and ports to attack Iran and backing the joint military operation of America and Israel on Iran in principle. Diego Garcia is located in the Chagos Islands, which has been at the centre of a territorial dispute between Mauritius and the UK. The International Court ruled in favour of Mauritius, and the UK formally agreed to the handover of Chagos. Trump had previously objected to this handover, stating the UK had no right to do so as Diego Garcia hosts one of America's most important bases. The base is maintained by the United Kingdom, though maintenance is funded by the United States.

The first small boat arrivals to cross the Channel since the UK government signed a major deal with France earlier this week have reached Dover.

The £662m deal will see French police officers "targeting and detaining" people on the country's coast, according to the Home Office.

On Saturday afternoon, people were seen leaving a UK Border Force boat off Kent and being escorted on to dry land in Dover.

The Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) is currently at the centre of the largest maternity inquiry in the history of the NHS - looking at care provided to about 2,500 families between 2012 and 2025.

The inquiry has been investigating stillbirths, neonatal deaths, maternal deaths, and injured babies and mothers at NUH, which runs City Hospital and Queen's Medical Centre.

We appeal to the administration to keep security concerns in mind, recognizing that the poor, too, have the right to an education. When results are produced in the thousands, certain anti-social elements tend to feel threatened. They think they can suppress us. The attackers completely vandalized the office and opened fire... The CCTV footage has been handed over to the authorities. Our security guard has also identified the perpetrators—it is the people from the nearby coaching center. We need protection; this is a matter for the administration to handle... It is obvious to everyone that the nearby coaching institute is behind this. They have even given the statements mentioning that they will blow up Khan Sir's coaching center.”

US President Donald Trump says he is close to a “very good deal” with Iran as US media report he is pushing for tougher terms.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the exchange of messages with the US is ongoing but nothing is certain until a deal is finalised.
President Trump continued to voice optimism for diplomacy early Monday, saying "Iran really wants to make a deal." He urged critics to "sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end."
His comments on Truth Social came after the U.S. military said a new round of "self-defense strikes" targeted Iranian radar and drone sites. Central Command called it a response to "aggressive Iranian actions" including shooting down another American drone.
Iran says it retaliated for what it labeled another U.S. ceasefire violation by targeting the "airbase from which the attack originated." U.S. ally Kuwait confirmed the interception of incoming missile and drone fire.

US-Israeli strikes on Iran’s capital Tehran have targeted street checkpoints of the Basij - a volunteer militia that has suppressed protests.

On Wednesday, Iran's oldest bank, Bank Sepah, was struck by an air strike in Tehran, which is said to play a key role paying the salaries of Iran's military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

More than 1,300 people have died and 17,000 have been injured in Iran since the conflict began, Iran's Ambassador to the UN Amir-Saeid Iravani has said. The UN Refugee Agency said up to 3.2 million Iranians have been temporarily displaced in Iran due to the conflict.

Iran has continued to respond by launching attacks on Israel and US-allied states in the Gulf, which have extended to non-military targets, including civilian sites and energy facilities.

Amid the Israel‑Iran war, explosions and missile activity were reported in and around Cyprus, where Britain’s strategic RAF bases are located, after the UK agreed to let the United States use some British bases for limited defensive action against Iranian missile threats. British Defence Secretary John Healey said two missiles were fired in the direction of Cyprus amid Iran’s retaliation for joint US‑Israeli strikes on Iran, though authorities believe they were not deliberately aimed at the island.

Explosions are continuing to rock the Middle East this weekend, as the American-Israeli war on Iran and its allies entered its second week.

President Trump said Operation Epic Fury was ahead of schedule, rating it '15 out of 10'.

But he hit out again at Sir Keir Starmer's reluctance to be more fully involved, saying 'we don't need people that join wars after we've already won'.
