Hezbollah has confirmed the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah after Israeli strikes on Beirut.
Nasrallah, who had not been seen in public for years because of fears of being assassinated by Israel, was one of the best-known and most influential figures in the Middle East.
Air strikes are continuing in southern Beirut, with a BBC correspondent seeing thick smoke rising over several locations in Dahieh on Saturday morning.

The FBI it “is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump” after a series of shots were fired at Mr Trump’s golf course in Florida.
Mr Trump’s campaign team said that the former president is “safe following gunshots in his vicinity.”
A person has been detained in connection with an incident at Trump International Golf Club.

Secret Service agents fired shots at the suspect, who attempted to flee.
